28 Years Later.

Today is my 28th Birthday. 28 is not a particularly interesting birthday. At 18 you can vote and are mandated to register for the draft; 21 brings booze and redefines the headache; 25 sees your insurance rates plummet on the car you've been driving. A lot of people celebrate by going and buying nice cars that are promptly destroyed as all the care you have exercised over the last 9 years is tossed out the window with reckless abandon. In my case I decided to justify the actuarial data and utterly ruin 2 vehicles before I turned 25. Still, July 10th 2004 saw me getting an outrageous reduction in car insurance. Thankfully. 27 is a birthday only nerds will understand; it being the last cubic birthday you'll have before you are a senior citizen or perhaps dead. 28 is another birthday wildly applauded in Nerderys the world 'round. 28 is the second perfect number, which basically means that it is the sum of all its proper divisors. 1+2+4+7+14=28, see?.........wow.....

This was me, in the early days. I'm one of two things in this photo. Well three things if you want to consider my being a one day old behemoth of a baby. Get a load of my weight?!? What a chunk. So anyway I'm doing one of two things. I am either asking where Mr. Biggelsworth ran off to or am practicing my shooters on the nursing staff. Playa' from day one. Here's a better one:

Many things have changed but I'm still prone to hiding under blankets.

The following years would have me growing like a weed; bouncing around on my red or yellow hippity-hop. Mine, however, was not like the other kid's. No sir. While the rest of the children in the 'hood had regular hippity-hops with only handles to grab onto we had ones with horse heads whose ears were handle bars.

Grade school, middle school, high-school then college. There have been shit jobs (paper route) and cool jobs (current position). I'm not gonna lie, there've been a few girls along the way. Some bad some not so bad, some phenomenal. I've made crap friends and life long friends. No names will be mentioned but rest assured if you're reading this you likely fall into the latter of those categories.

I've been a few places and seen a few things. Not well traveled but I get around. Prepping for another trip as I write this to see one of the people who also makes the life long list. I guess I'm content for the time being with who I am and what I've accomplished. I have my friends, my family and my health and for all of that I am grateful.

Figured I would end this with a picture of me now. It's not the sort that makes mothers proud but it is none-the-less Aaron "Peaches" Alberts 28 years later.....

Not pictured here is the stick I've been using to beat back the stampedes of fine looking ladies that this type of style attracts. RRRaaaarrrrrr.

Thanks for the last 28 years. I'm looking forward with great anticipation.

I'm not sure it's advisable that you walk around France like that... I thought you were regrowing the mustache, not all that other business. Oh la la.

Happy Birthday! What a chunk you were--did you have a black eye from being born? Your poor mother.

Can't wait for your visit. Love from me and P.
